Blog 19 – 7 Million Steps – The Petrified Forest & Painted Desert

I am a city gal, and to be honest with you, I really am not a fan of the desert. But,  I have to say this walk through Arizona has really changed my view.

Even though I did not enjoy the desert experience, Arizona handed me in the first weeks of the Warrior Momz Walk, as much as it challenged me physically,  I marveled at the colours of the mountains, mesas and I will never forget the gigantic dignity of the Saguaro Cactus.

All through this walk I have been stunned by the beauty and colours.

Today was the encore! As I leave Arizona for New Mexico tomorrow it was fitting my last day was spent in the Petrified Forest & Painted Desert. I have never experienced such grandeur, such spectacular scenery, in such a small area.

I walked 22 miles on a near perfect road, I climbed long rambling hills and it seemed behind every turn there was a new experience of colour or form.

The scenery changed dramatically through the walk and I was totally in awe of my surroundings.

I would recommend every American should take a journey through this precious National Park!

It will be well worth your time!
